AYUP Meet-up: Calligraphy & Illustration w/ Enso

Whether you are interested in expanding your understanding of calligraphy and its place in the world of illustration, developing line control for drawing and painting or would like to put your own spin on an illuminated letter; Join us at Picture House Social for our next Local Calligraphy Artist Enso will take you through an introduction into calligraphy and the basics of the practice.Looking at how calligraphy has been used historically and in a contemporary context too, each participant will walk away with new skills PLUS a piece of art they have designed.

Artist Bio

Finishing a degree in illustration at Sheffield Hallam in 2014 Enso has worked in graphic design, painted signs/murals and ran a screen printing company. Now focusing solely on calligraphy, painting and tattooing, each skill-set influences one another through his use of Automatism and Surrealist drawing techniques. Enso’s mentor and role model was his Grandmother, Calligrapher and Chief Heraldic artist at the bureau of Heraldry in South Africa. Enso aims to contemporise these traditional crafts and skills with more recent processes and schools of thought, creating immense depth in his work.

AYUP is the AOI Sheffield meet-up, open to all illustrators.
